Our History
Providing comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic care to patients has been a lifelong vision of John Brest, our lead Certified Orthotist and Pedorthist. Since childhood, he has been around the O&P profession. His father, John “Jack” Brest, C.O., was an American Board Certified Orthotist who practiced in the profession for 39 years. Jack began his career in Dayton, Ohio then moved to the Carolinas in the ’70s and finished his career in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was instrumental in pediatric spinal orthotic care and helped to develop and design many different types of orthoses. He always had a passion for helping others and was truly committed to the O&P profession.
“My dad provided me with the skills and desire to help people in a caring and compassionate manner. In today’s time, those tools mean everything to my patients.”

Total Care Medical Advisory Board
The medical advisory board serves as a comprehensive tool for our patients. In some circumstances, patients are dealt with complex and long term disabilities. This can be overwhelming physically, emotionally and financially. Our board can be instrumental in developing and implementing a plan for these difficult circumstances.
Through communication with different specialists and experts, our medical board feels that we can go the extra mile for our patients! Sometimes it is the smallest suggestion or recommendation that allows our patients to experience the most positive outcome possible.
What Patients Say
“As a result of a motor vehicle accident, my two children were in need of complicated bracing to allow them to begin rehab and help restore their lives. After leaving the ICU, I was referred to Total Care where not only did they provide my children with excellent care and bracing, they recommended a physical therapist, orthopedist, and a home healthcare nurse to assist with all of our medical issues. Without the help of Total Care, in the beginning, I do not feel that we would be where we are today.”
- Samantha L.
“After a traumatic injury that left me with an amputated leg, I did not know where to begin. Total Care was able to assist in finding financial help, make me an excellent prosthesis and helping me establish myself back in the workplace. Total Care also helped me achieve a dream of skiing by connecting me to the proper people from the adapted skiing program.”
